The Discotivity

No cast list is provided for this show, which is a shame because the most positive thing about it is that the company knock their socks off in its performance – or at least they would if they were wearing any.

Christians are unlikely to take any offence at this cheesy take on the Nativity story. It features a sexy female talking (and singing) donkey, and a rather fine angel with a broad Welsh accent who can do a high kick the like of which I haven't seen since Cyd Charisse's heyday.

There’s also the campest trio of shepherds outside of flock wallpaper, and an equally camp trio of wise men (love the handbags).

Insubstantial is probably not too strong a word for a show whose jokes are more miss than hit and which aims show-biz big but is performed in a space just about big enough to be a front porch.

The right audience for it was a few rows behind me; a group of well prepared (in a liquid sense) ladies who were out for a good time and determined to have it. As for me, I was mildly entertained but give the talented cast some material to work with and a proper space to fill and I would happily see them again – if I had any idea what their names were.
